Why You Should Select PEX Tubing

If you plan on remodeling your home, doing new construction, upgrading your existing plumbing system, or installing a radiant heat floor, you will want to check on the possibility of using PEX tubing for your project. It should not be hard to find. PEX plumbing materials are rapidly replacing other materials like lead, copper, iron, and PVC pipes. This is because it has many advantages over the products traditionally used in plumbing.

It is manufactured from a high-density polymer, which is incredibly strong and flexible. This is why it is so popular for use with radiant heat flooring. It can be bent at right angles without needing a elbow connector. It also resists crushing and crimping. You can see how this flexibility would make it preferable to rigid pipes for almost any application.

The incredible flexibility of this product has many advantages. It takes far less time and effort to install, which means your project will get done more quickly and cost less than if you used traditional plumbing pipes. It can also be made in a long, continuous roll, much like a hose. This makes it less expensive to produce and ship. The savings will be passed on to the consumer.

PEX tubing is also better for the environment than traditional options. Rigid plumbing requires acidic materials or lead solder to make necessary connections. This introduces dangerous chemicals into the soil and water. PEX pipe requires no chemicals to create connections. Another advantage is that there is reduced heat loss with this type of tubing. Reduced heat loss translates into less energy consumption.

PEX plumbing is also a money-saving option. Every time you introduce a connection into a plumbing system, it creates the chances of a leak. Fewer connections means lower risk of leaks later on. This will save you repair costs to the plumbing and also costs to repair any secondary damaged caused by those leaks.

Because polymer tubing like this allows a small amount of oxygen to escape through the material, you will need a special kind of tubing for radiant heat floors. This is because the flooring material can react with the oxygen and cause corrosion of the floor. There are a couple oxygen-barrier types of PEX plumbing materials on the market. Be sure your contractor is using one of these types for any flooring or walkways.

So make sure to check on the possibility of using PEX tubing for your next project. It will most likely be less expensive in the short term. It will definitely less expensive in the long run!

Should I Chose Tanalised Gates?

Tanalised gates are essentially vacume treated timber cut into shape to make up wooden gates. The vaume process using toxic chemicals to imprgnate right down to the cells of the wood ensures that the tanalised wood can be used both indoors and outdoors and last for many years with little or no preventative methods being needed to provide any extra protection to the timber from the weather or other possible contaminents.

Alternatively, there are other methods of treating timber for long lasting applications outside. The green tint is not the desirable finish in many cases and high quality wood stains tend not to stick as well as they are designed to when being applied over the top of tanalised timber.  Tanalised timber is asily noticeable from distributors of timber products for its green tint in colour, it can be of a rough sawn finish, however you can find gate manufacturers who do supply smooth finished tanalised gates to hang in driveways or be used as attractive wooden garden gates.

After some time the pale green coloration does subside and become a more suitable honey brown but die to the the treatment process still doesnt react too well with other color coatings.  There are other methods of treating timber suitable for outside use and even large construction where the timbers preservative value can last an initial 60 years. Its a good idea to consider the alternatives as burning tanalised wood releases arsenic, a cumulative poison, into the immediate atmosphere.  Whereas theres a copper azole formula pressure treatment as an alternative to the arsenic type tanalising process which provides an excellent protection barrier from causes of decay to ensure long life.  There’s a water based version too which is in wide use in construction uses close to agricultural countryside uses such as field gates.

The House Painting Business Pays Well

HTML clipboard

Painting homes can offer a very good income even during poor economic times. The key to success is having a good business plan and a good attitude. In most cases, house painting is not a favorite chore. Everyone likes the idea of having freshly painted walls in their homes, but most people hate to paint

A house painting business is a great home based business for several reasons. One reason is the fact that it is a real business and the business can be run out of your home. Secondly, anyone can start painting on a part-time basis. House painters often work as painters for some time before going out on their own. In the past 30 years I’ve encouraged several house painters to start their own successful businesses. An energetic man or woman will gain experience from an established painting contractor by working a couple years as a house painter. Once learning the tricks of the trade, there is little reason to continue as an employee.

To start a painting business, one needs to be a good worker. Most people who go into business for themselves picture themselves as managers over multiple work crews. There is nothing wrong with this approach but another approach, especially during poor economic times is work at keeping your business small and profitable. With a good work ethic, a one-man business can prove to be most profitable. To make it in business, one needs a good plan and physical endurance. The simple fact of the matter is that when working for yourself, there is no one to take up any slack. But the positives certainly outnumber the negatives of self employment

After one makes the commitment that is needed, they really need a good house painting business plan. If you do not seek proper guidance it is too easy to overspend in areas of tools and equipment or advertising. A good house painting business guide will help the new business owner keep focused on important things. The failure rate of new businesses can be very depressing and most times it is due to having no business plan.

Printing Laser Labels

Printing quality self-adhesive labels on a laser printer is simple. All you need to do is to put them in the paper tray so they will print portrait, put your printer software on the “labels” setting and then print as usual. For improved positioning of the print you can use the media bypass slot usually positioned above the paper tray, this reduces the number of rollers the label sheet passes through and helps to prevent the print from slewing left at the top and right at the bottom of the A4 label sheet.

The labels setting on your printer driver software is usually in the “settings” or “properties” section, and these options are on that rather annoying page that pops up every time you print something. Some of the more expensive or modern laser printers have auto sensing, which means they automatically sense the thickness of the media they are loaded with.

You do have to print A4 labels in a portrait direction; this is because, like wood, paper has a grain direction. The grain direction is from the top to the bottom of the sheet rather than side to side. The result of this is that the paper is more rigid along its length; this means that the labels are better supported on the backing paper and less likely to peel off the backing paper while printing.

Laser printers are not designed to print labels, they are designed to print thinner A4 sheets, so it is always a good idea to read the printer manufacturer’s manual to find out what they advise for label printing. To enable the printers to print labels well you need to use laser labels made from laser grade paper and cut in a layout that also reduces the chances of separation from the backing during printing. Laser grade paper has a specified smoothness so that the laser toner can attain the resolution you need.

Laser labels also have a certain water content this is essential and helps the toner to key into the paper when it goes through the fuser in your printer. (The fuser is like a heated mangle with the paper passing between two rollers one of which is heated.) If the labels dry out then the laser print will smudge so always keep unused labels in their packaging. Laser labels also have a [particular|certain} type of backing paper which provides enough friction so that the rollers in the printer can move it accurately.

The 1940’s Housing Shortage

The 1940’s Housing Boom}

Often described in the post-war years as `the housing shortage’, the national effort to fix a very troubling problem has in time come to be called `the housing boom’. Undoubtedly it was a boom in demand and building. There was also a notable increase in home ownership, achieved in many cases through heroic individual effort and years of sacrifice.

Changing social attitudes offered new opportunities, but also narrowed the options. Emphasis in government housing schemes was at first on rental accommodation; later there was a swing toward the sale of affordable dwellings. At a time when various factors had reduced the availability of rental houses, governments, banks, finance companies, building societies and housing co-ops were offering greater opportunities for home ownership. Ironically this was paralleled by a rise in building costs.

High on the list of factors linked to rising costs were the introduction in 1948 of the 40-hour week, and drastic increases in the cost of building materials. By 1948 an employer had to pay an unqualified building worker a higher salary than a tradie had received in early 1946.

To keep both labourer and tradesman economically employed the builder needed a continuous flow of materials which was a rare event during this period. Lack of skilled workers also meant lower quality building and further loss of time.

Contract prices were loaded with an increasing profit margin as an insurance against unseen contingencies. Under commonwealth price control, builders were entitled to a 10 per cent `profit’ on the contract price. Above award payments were not recognised in price control and yet builders often found a need to pay above award salaries to ensure house completion.

Unexpected costs could happen when, for example, timber flooring was suddenly unprocurable, and a higher price would then have to be paid for imported Baltic flooring.

With locally made cement taking forever to turn up, a batch from across the border was sometimes contracted at nearly three times the price. When compared to 1939 prices hardwood flooring material had, by 1948, doubled in value. Cement had risen by almost 20 per cent and terracotta roofing tiles by more than 25 per cent. A gallon of first-grade paint costing around 30s ($3) in 1939 had risen by 40 per cent by 1948.

When added to rising costs and shortages of materials the government restrictions, limiting the area of a new dwelling to 1200 square feet (111.48 square metres) for a timber house and 1250 square feet (116.12 square metres) for one in brick, completed the recipe for an imposed cost-cutting.

The economical plan was necessary; cost-saving and limitations on area made large single-purpose rooms a luxury. Verandahs and spacious porches disappeared, reducing the shade at the front of the house to the absolute minimum. Ceiling heights had been gradually reduced from the turn of the century and were now usually nine feet (2745 mm). Until the government construction restrictions were lifted in 1952 the acceptance of no-nonsense functionalism was as much an imposed state as it was a fashionable philosophy. This was the era of the great Australian Dream.

But if it was a window film installation, it’s not really convincing that the crack was because of the installation, whether it was an expert’s installation or just done by a non-pro. This is a very sensitive topic that needs deeper investigation. The problem worsens by the time the customer will want to avail a warranty. The problem will now arise if the customer is not surely whether to ask the window tint provider or the glass window company for a warranty.
